UKAS)
is the sole authority in the UK, recognised by the BIS, for accrediting certification
bodies to operate assessment and certification of quality systems.

Most companies obtain an ISO9001:2008 certificate in order to have access to new
markets or to strengthen their place within their existing market, so it is sensible
to avoid the risk of not achieving this goal by having an unaccredited certificate.
The danger of purchasing ISO9001:2008 from a non-accredited source is knowing whether
it (the source) is competent. It often comes as a surprise to learn that anyone
can set themselves up as a certification body (or for that matter any other type
of evaluator)
QEC Certification has been accredited by
UKAS following
an assessment of the competence, integrity and impartiality of its operations. Also
an independent Governing Board has been set up to oversee the operations of QEC
Certification.
